Farmstay at "Il Villino" Vineyards and Cantina (Wine Cellar)




Our vineyards

Our farm is spread over 30 hectares of which about 6-7 are cultivated with vineyards and olive trees. In our vineyards we grow different types of vines, from Canaiolo to Sangiovese, Trebbiano and Malvasia, all typical Chianti Classico grapes. Our production is made with respect to the best wine making traditions, taking care of the smallest details, from the harvesting of the grapes to the bottling of the product.

Our cellar

The cellar of "Il Villino" is situated behind the farmhouse and was created by restructuring of the original barn. Inside you can still see the typical oak barrels used for wine maturation as well as other more modern wine-making systems.



Wine-making

The grapes are picked exclusively by hand in the beginning of October. After the grapes are separated from the stalks, they are put into special containers where the alcoholic fermentation transforms the must into wine. This delicate operation lasts for about 12-15 days, after which the pressing of the marc starts in order to divide the wine from the skins that give colour, polyphenols and tannin. The wine starts the maturation period which lasts for about 7 to 8 months and afterwards it is bottled and ready to be served on your tables.

The result of our production is a Gallo Nero Chianti Classico D.O.C.G wine.
